Outdoor Weddings

The bride and groom says their vows at their outdoor wedding ceremony in Shropshire

On warmer days, there can be nothing more romantic than saying your vows in the great outdoors, under the bluest of skies and surrounded by the best that nature has to offer. At Delbury Hall, civil ceremonies take place underneath our Pagoda, set on the sweeping, south-facing lawn with views across the lake to the main house and over surrounding countryside. While amongst acres of beautiful scenery, the walled lawn also offers a sense of seclusion and intimacy – perfect for a wedding ceremony.

After getting ready in the bridal suite, should you wish, it is a short stroll under the Coach House archway to the front lawn at Delbury. The pathway across the lawn becomes your aisle, walking around the water feature and between your seated guests to the Pagoda, perhaps accompanied by a harpist or string quartet.

Working closely with a registrar enables you to create your bespoke ceremony, choosing readings and vows that suit your personalities and relationship. While the appearance of the Pagoda blends with its natural environment, contemporary facilities include a sound system should you decide to play music – perhaps your favourite track to accompany you back down the aisle as a married couple.

Following your garden ceremony, it’s time to mingle with your guests, perhaps remaining on the front lawn or serving canapés and Champagne beside the lake. It’s a scenario that encapsulates the English country wedding – a fine combination of an elegant country mansion, sweeping lawns, a mesmerising lake and walled gardens… the makings of a fairytale.
